Atlanta-based producer Popstar Benny makes colorful, hyperactive beats that take influence from video game soundtracks and indie rock, while dabbling in trap subgenres such as pluggnb and rage. The productive artist and DJ began using the pseudonym in 2017, and was soon producing beats for rappers like Rod Wave and Kevin Abstract. 2021's Album* ventured into drum'n'bass and drill, and featured verses by MIKE, KEY!, Bear1Boss, and others. Benny has earned increased attention with two more guest-heavy releases, 2023's University! and 2024's Oasis, which featured a cast of all-female vocalists.
