About Nice Biscuit

A colorful and melodic psych-inspired sextet from Brisbane, Australia, Nice Biscuit garnered national attention in 2017 when they won Triple J Unearthed's competition to perform at the BIGSOUND conference, netting themselves a label deal in the process. Initially formed in 2016 to play a one-off gig at a barn in the town of Mullumbimby, the fledgling band immediately received a request to open a show for fellow Brisbane psych enthusiasts Moses Gunn Collective and just kept on going from there. Led by twin co-frontwomen Billie Star and Grace Cuell along with Ben Mulheran (guitar, keys, vocals), Jesse Ferronato (guitar, vocals), Nick Cavendish (bass), and Kurt Melvin (drums), Nice Biscuit released a handful of singles before their exposure at BIGSOUND led to a contract with Inertia imprint Break Even Recordings. Their first single for the label, 2017's "Captain," introduced an intriguing mix of cosmic psych vibes, sprightly garage pop, and a driving, almost Krautrock feel. A few more singles were issued over the next year leading up to the release of their 2018 debut album, Digital Mountain. ~ Timothy Monger
