Mato Wayuhi

A member of the Oglala Lakota Nation, Mato Wayuhi's respect for musical tradition and passion for sonic variety have made him a dizzying success as a rapper, producer, and composer. He achieved a breakthrough with the music for Reservation Dogs, the acclaimed dramedy series created by and starring a primarily Indigenous cast. In 2021, Wayuhi also released Pleasure, an affecting album partially inspired by his journey as a queer person. Meanwhile, Wayuhi co-wrote the score to War Pony, a coming-of-age film set on the Pine Ridge Reservation that won the Camera d’Or prize at the Cannes Film Festival in 2022. Another ambitious studio album, Stankface Standing Soldier, followed in 2024.
