Spencer Cullum

In addition to his occasional work as a bandleader, English musician Spencer Cullum is known for supplying an array of prominent Nashville artists with inventive pedal steel guitar parts. Throughout the 2010s, Cullum racked up loads of interesting studio credits with artists ranging from Deer Tick to Little Big Town while serving as a member of Miranda Lambert's band. His deeper influences -- surf rock, spaghetti Westerns, jazz -- became more apparent over his releases as half of the duo Steelism, and he fused his U.K. folk and prog rock roots with a Nashville studio sensibility on his solo debut, 2021's Spencer Cullum's Coin Collection. 2023's Spencer Cullum's Coin Collection 2 was another atmospheric effort rooted in prog rock, British folk, and sunny psychedelic tones. After joining Rich Ruth and Sean Thompson for the 2025 experimental fusion project Shrunken Elvis, Cullum completed his solo trilogy with 2026's Coin Collection 3.
