Erkki Lasonpalo

With an expressive but not exaggerated presence at the podium of some of the most celebrated orchestras in his native Finland, Erkki Lasonpalo stands out as an orchestral conductor in the Nordic nations. As a conductor, Lasonpalo has led many of the premier ensembles in his homeland, including the Helsinki Philharmonic, the Helsinki Sinfonietta (where he served as artistic director from 2014 to 2020), and perhaps most prominently, the Mikkeli City Orchestra (St. Michel Strings), working as an artistic partner from 2017 to 2020 before becoming their chief conductor. His small but sturdy body of recorded work as a conductor includes 2017's In Lucem by Finnish female vocal ensemble Luminos.
