Moontype

A fusion of fuzzy alt-rock, punchy guitar pop, and yearning singer/songwriter components, Moontype evolved from the spare, voice-and-bass guitar demos of songwriter Margaret McCarthy. After releasing a pair of solo EPs under the stage name, McCarthy recruited two fellow members of Chicago's avant-garde music scene and recorded the project's full-length debut as a trio. Heavily guided by her intimate lyrics and unusual melodies, the resulting album, Bodies of Water, saw release in 2021.
