In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. We both agree that Michael Jackson Thriller, played on a portable Sony tape player is our first memory of MUSIC! What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Gidon Kremer, Hommage à Piazzolla Pat Metheny Group, Pat Metheny Group Tinariwen, Kel Tinariwen Hommage à Piazzolla — tango with so much feeling. Pat Metheny Group — between jazz, classical, and the open road, where we want to live. Tinariwen — Saharan blues that shaped Andrew's writing on our album Great Lakes. Tell us why you chose this song. “Heartdance” Andrew wrote Heartdance about the dragonfly's final mating formation — a flying valentine. Guitar in odd meters, flute borrowing from the Basque zortziko. People tell us their dragonfly stories after concerts. That's everything we want music to do. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? We met in 2003 and our first sort-of date before we started playing professionally together was backpacking in the Guadalupe Mountains of Southwest Texas. What a way to get to know each other!
