About Linda May Han Oh

Linda May Han Oh is a first-call session and touring bassist who plays upright and electric basses equally well, her playing style crosses vanguard jazz, post-bop, jazz-funk, and swinging hard bop. Entry, her leader debut, appeared in 2009. Between 2011 and 2015, she played in trumpeter Dave Douglas' groups, and for his Greenleaf Music label for Initial Here (2012) and Sun Pictures (2013). Oh played on Terri Lyne Carrington's award-winning Mosaic Project in 2015. She issued Serial that year, followed by Walk Against Wind in 2017. She appeared with pianist Florian Weber's trio on 2018's Lucent Waters. In 2019 she released the acclaimed Aventurine and toured with Pat Metheny. She led a quintet on 2023's The Glass Hours. The following year she joined drummer Tyshawn Sorey in Vijay Iyer's trio for Compassion. In 2025, she, Sorey, and trumpeter Ambrose Akinmusire released Strange Heavens.
