About Impérieux

Electronic experimentalist Impérieux combines melodic house, techno, and d'n'b with avant-garde weirdness, psychedelia, ethnic elements, and exquisite production design. Born Alper Durmush in Kardzhali, Bulgaria, near the border with Turkey, he was part of the region's majority ethnic Turkish population. His father was a DJ, and he grew up surrounded by music from his earliest memories. Impérieux put out his first big single, "Mehmed," in 2019; it gained positive attention online and was followed by a string of further singles and EPs. In 2020 he moved to Berlin, which he found difficult; the tension and melancholy of this period can be heard in his releases from the time, notably the Modus Operandi EP. Impérieux self-released his debut album, Losers Queue, in 2024, and his sophomore full-length effort, Rezil, in 2025 on Macro. The In and Out EP was released later that year on the same label.
