Shake Stew

Featuring an unusual lineup of two bassists, two drummers, and three horns, Austrian jazz band Shake Stew have garnered attention with an attractive, genre-bending mixture of hypnotic grooves, Afrobeat influences, atmospheric textures, rock energy, and intricate improvisation. The group, led by bassist Lukas Kranzelbinder (who also adds a guembri, a Gnawa lute, to some tracks), quickly established themselves not only in their home country, but also played shows throughout Europe, Canada, the U.S., Mexico, Morocco, and Tunisia, appearing at renowned festivals in Montreal, Rochester, and Rotterdam.
