About Crawford Mack

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. Everything really clicked when I learned how to transcribe records while studying jazz. Slowing songs down and pulling them apart changed how I listened & taught me to hear arrangement and tone as storytelling tools rather than production/decoration. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Father John Misty, Mahashmashana Franz Ferdinand, You Could Have It So Much Better The Police, Synchronicity (Remastered 2003) I revel in records that balance outward confidence with inward, self-questioning writing. They use contrast in arrangements to let the singers play with character while staying rooted in their own voice. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Think About It” 'Think About It' stands out as a point where I fully committed to writing from inside a character. Working that way showed me how tone and perspective can reveal parts of myself more precisely than speaking directly. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? The most memorable moments were the first gigs back after the COVID shutdowns at Servant Jazz Quarters and King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut. My first album came out during that pause; finally playing those songs live was a real moment of relief and connection Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? One thing still on my bucket list is making work that lives quietly with people. When a song becomes part of someone’s daily life on its own terms, without explanation or context from me, that feels like the work doing what it’s meant to do.
