About Septic Tank
Employing a lethal blast of self-described "punk, noise, and low-grade metal," Septic Tank originated in 1994 as a thrash-punk, Discharge-style side project for members of stalwart English doom metallers Cathedral. Staffed by Cathedral's Lee Dorrian (vocals) and Gary Jennings (guitar), along with Repulsion bassist Scott Carlson, the initial lineup was a mirror image of Cathedral. Septic Tank hammered out a few songs shortly after forming, but it would be 20 years before the band would put out any actual material. Taking a cue from decibel-shredding hardcore and metal acts like Frost, Motörhead, and Japanese punk legends G.I.S.M., the band released its long-awaited debut album, Rotting Civilisation, in 2018 via Rise Above Records, a London-based independent record label owned by Dorrian. ~ James Christopher Monger
