About Oscar Danilo
Nicknamed "El Más Chinamero de Nicaragua," Oscar Danilo Otero is a singer of cumbia chinamera, a Nicaraguan version of the popular tropical genre that spawned local variations all over Latin America. Slightly faster than traditional Colombian cumbia and party-oriented in its lyrics, the subgenre was developed as music for chinamos, small bars or kiosks that become street dancing spots during holidays and festivals. Active since at least the mid-2010s, Danilo became one of cumbia chinamera's forerunners with titles such as "Mi Novia Me Dejó," "El Chaca Chaca," "El Carrito Mujeriego," and "Las Dos Señoras," and also toured in Central America and the United States. While his discography is largely unavailable outside of Nicaragua, in 2025 some 60 of Danilo's singles were uploaded to the main streaming platforms, remastered and edited by DJ and producer JMRodríguez.
