Smerz

Underground dance music styles such as techno and footwork, along with field recordings, chamber music, and an out-of-joint approach to pop-flavored R&B, inform the sound of Smerz. The Copenhagen-based duo established their shapeshifting sound with two EPs before they made their full-length debut with Believer in 2021. Three years later, they released the conceptual Allina (co-credited to the fictional singer of the same name) and wrote and produced Tidligere Den Dagen for the choral ensemble GAEA. Their own Big City Life, previewed with singles such as the romantic "You Got Time and I Got Money," followed in 2025, along with Big City Life Edits.
