About Gregory Uhlmann

Gregory Uhlmann is a Los Angeles-based guitarist, producer, composer, and a founding member of Los Angeles jazz quartet SML. He records under his own name and collaborates with artists who include Perfume Genius and Meg Duffy. Odd Job, his debut album, appeared in 2017, showcasing indie pop, folk, and lo-fi. 2020's Neighborhood Watch was filtered through indie rock, while 2023's Again and Again on Northern Spy focused on experimentation and post-rock. Later that year, he and Duffy released the experimental rock set Doubles. In 2024, SML issued its widely acclaimed eponymous debut and Uhlmann released the cassette offering Small Day. A year later the experimental contemporary jazz outing Uhlmann Johnson Wilkes placed him in the company of saxophonist Josh Johnson and bassist Sam Wilkes. That same year, SML's sophomore outing How You Been was released. He returned in 2026 with his International Anthem solo debut Extra Stars.
