About Dominique Fils-Aimé

Dominique Fils-Aimé is a multi-JUNO Award-winning Montreal-based singer and composer. Her smoky alto instrument is but one expression in a multi-octave range from contralto to soprano. Her first three albums were a trilogy focused on the history of Black North American culture that influenced the development of blues, jazz, R&B, and soul in North America. She composes or co-composes the vast majority of her songs. Nameless, her 2018 debut album, confronted historical silences and sorrows through blues. Her sophomore album, Stay Tuned!, used the languages of jazz and soul. 2021's Three Little Words, a call for reconciliation, used neo-soul and R&B as stylistic catalysts. 2023's internationally acclaimed Our Roots Run Deep, was the first volume in a second trilogy. It won the Juno for Best Vocal Jazz Album. 2025's Live at the Montreal International Jazz Festival offered a live overview of her catalog.
