Brandon Lake

Brandon Lake was raised in a religious family and learned to play guitar from his father, a former worship leader. ∙ His 2016 debut album, Closer, was financed entirely through crowdfunding. ∙ Lake was awarded gospel’s highest honor, the Dove Award, for “This Is a Move,” written after a perceived miracle cured a friend’s multiple sclerosis. ∙ He cowrote and performed on the title track of Elevation Worship’s Graves into Gardens, which debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Christian Albums chart. ∙ His single “I Need a Ghost,” written with the hope of reaching a nonworship audience, has appeared on seven Apple Music playlists. ∙ Lake appeared in 2020 with Grammy Award winner Rebecca St. James on her first release in nearly a decade, “Battle Is the Lord’s.”
