About Melissa Carper
A distinctive upright bassist, singer, and songwriter from Arkansas, Melissa Carper's homespun yet profound tales of life, love, and loss combine elements of old-timey blues, country, western swing, jazz, honky-tonk, and early rock & roll. Nicknamed "HillBillie Holiday" by friend and frequent collaborator Chris Scruggs, her well-received 2015 debut paved the way for the critically acclaimed Daddy's Country Gold (2021) and Ramblin' Soul (2022), the latter of which marked her debut for Thirty Tigers. Borned in Ya, rooted in country, jazz, blues, soul, and R&B, appeared in 2024, with Havin’ a Talk, a collection of duets with Paris‑born singer Theo Lawrence, arriving in 2026.
