About Transparent Sound

Long-standing U.K. act Transparent Sound's music includes futuristic electro-funk and propulsive acid, as well as driving, Detroit-inspired electro-techno, all created in the spirit of raw experimentation. Founded by Orson Bramley and Martin Brown in 1994, the duo began releasing dancefloor-friendly electro-breaks records, sometimes with new wave-influenced basslines, on their own eponymous imprint. They soon earned the attention of other labels, and later made their full-length debut with 2002's Emotional Amputation. Bramley founded another label, Orson Records, during the mid-2000s, as the pair's music began to favor 4/4 grooves. Bramley continued Transparent Sound as a solo act after Brown left, and renewed interest in their back catalog led to the relaunch of the Transparent Sound label, reissues of in-demand records, and the 2019 full-length Gently Evil. The career-spanning compilation Accidents 1994-2023 was issued by Berlin techno institution Tresor, further giving Transparent Sound long-overdue recognition.
