R&B singer Summerella got her start as a social media star, posting funny clips on Vine and YouTube before launching her music career. • Summerella’s 2015 debut single, “11 Something,” reached No. 24 on Billboard’s Hot R&B Songs chart. The song was originally a Vine freestyle that she developed into a full track at the urging of her fans. • Atlanta producer Polow da Don took the singer under his wing, and after a string of singles, including “Pull Up (feat. Jacquees),” Summerella released her 2018 debut EP, appropriately titled First Day of Summer. • In a nod to another singer from Atlanta, Summerella samples Usher’s “Superstar” on her track “Groupie.”
