About Kojo Funds

With his blend of Afrobeats, dancehall, and UK trap, British singer and rapper Kojo Funds is regarded as a pioneer of Afroswing. • Funds is of Ghanian and Dominican descent. The London native was inspired by Jamaican artists like Bob Marley, Mavado, Sean Paul, Shaggy, and Wayne Wonder. • He discovered his passion for music by freestyling over beats with friends in a local car park. This led to his 2014 debut single, “Want From Me.” • His dancehall-inspired 2016 breakthrough “Dun Talkin’” features London rapper Abra Cadabra. • In 2017, Funds was nominated for Best Newcomer at the MOBO Awards alongside Jorja Smith, Stefflon Don, Mabel, and Yxng Bane. • Funds appears on Mabel’s 2017 single “Finders Keepers,” which peaked at No. 8 on the UK charts. The following year, he reached No. 26 with his own “Check,” featuring Raye. • His 2018 debut mixtape, Golden Boy, eked into the Top 40 on the UK albums chart.
