After coming out of the gate in 2026 with the fan-friendly sequel Most Hated 2, Fredo Bang continues the prolific streak begun the prior year with this stand-alone project. Befitting the inherent duality of its title, Laugh Now Cry Later finds the Baton Rouge native moving between unabashedly raunchy tracks and more thematically weighty ones. He leaves nothing to the imagination on ”Outta My System (Bx with a Bob)” and the more bluntly direct “GOT D 4 YA.” Yet from there, he swiftly pivots to a more mournful state of mind on the wistful “Today,” a stark reminder of the worlds a rap star like Fredo must navigate. Either way, he doesn’t fail to entertain, whether he’s paying homage to a notorious Louisiana hip-hop great on the lurid “Gates Flow 2 (She Don’t Wanna)” or doling out warnings to his opps on “Praying for My Enemies.” Our Favorite Track: Calling back to the days of doo-wop, “Say Please (Don’t Leave Me Lonely)” recruits BigXthaPlug for an inventive duet.
