we're all feeling the same

Even though lovelytheband proclaim that we’re all feeling the same on their new album, don’t confuse that with any of us feeling good. The LA band, led by Mitchy Collins and Jordan Greenwald, use we’re all feeling the same to examine the ills of our modern romance and heartbreak, examining why, exactly, these feelings we all have still lead to loneliness. Opener “kiss me goodbye” is an ode to a relationship reaching its sunset, backed by charging drums and a string suite bridging the divide between modern and retro. On “never leave the house,” Collins and Greenwald again sing of heartbreak, but here, they do so over a catchy electro-punk groove and sardonic lyrics about being gaslit into paranoia. “Please don’t call me crazy while you’re driving me insane/I’ve got enough addictions that I’m trying to maintain,” Collins snarls. The vibes may be bad, but the songs are anything but. Our Favorite Lyric: “love that kills”: “A modern-day Bonnie and Clyde/We could make the devil cry/Let’s build a coffin for both of us/There ain’t no way to forgivin’ this.”
