Though his rise has been years in the making, Colombian rapper Topboy TGR began to make himself known to wider audiences beginning in 2025. His subsequent team-ups with Eladio Carrión, Midnvght, and iZaak, among others, increased that visibility considerably, leading to the timely release of PRESIDENT MIXTAPE. Reteaming with his frequent production collaborator Fharid On The Beat, he deploys his melodic albeit trap-informed style over a series of sleek beats. From the mafiioso vibes of “PALO DE VERDE” to the heady retrowave chill of “CHANNEL,” he meets the moment with the sort of momentum-pushing energy that yields rap stars. No lightweight on the mic, he demonstrates dexterity on “PRESIDENTIAL FREESTYLE” and projects power with narcotized menace on the stark “RAININ’.” The deadpan delivery on “POPPIN’” further augments his formidable reputation, though he still manages to glide effortlessly over the somewhat nostalgic dance-floor thump of bonus track “AMOR + PERCO.”
