French Canadian producer Jacques Greene broke through in 2011 with “Another Girl,” flipping a Brandy sample into a dreamy post-dubstep classic. Since then, each album as Jacques Greene has inched him further from the dance floor: His 2025 collaborative album with Nosaj Thing as Verses GT offered a subtle, moody take on UK garage, while his previous solo record, 2019’s Dawn Chorus, explored shoegaze and drone. Greene’s third solo album, jg, is a pointed return to club music, stripping away the filters for a newly direct sound that drifts from shuffling two-step to cathartic big-room house. Mixed by Pearson Sound and mastered by Joker, it’s also a tribute to the joy of genuine collaboration, stacked with features from musicians whom Greene also calls friends. That list includes avant-pop wizard umru, the dream-pop duo crushed, and a gang of fellow Canadians (CFCF, Ouri, Jonah Yano).
