Detroit rapper Icewear Vezzo’s first three iterations of Rich Off Pints arrived in 2021 and 2022. It took four years to revive the series for its fourth edition, and Rich Off Pints 4 showcases the artist in a much different place in his career. On opener “I Can’t Go for It,” Vezzo employs a singsong delivery that recalls mercurial Atlanta star Future, using a knack for melody to convey the blend of confidence and frustration that animates his life. The checks are bigger than ever before, but no amount of success can heal the traumas of his past. “Pourin’ out my heart with all this drank/I been through some shit ’cause I got pain,” he croons. There are plenty of fun moments, though, like when Vezzo recruits fellow Detroit mainstays Sada Baby and Peezy for the charged-up, footwork-infused workout of “Ghetto Thriller.” Favorite beat: The messy, buzzing distortion of the 42-Dugg assisted “I Ain’t Trippin.”
