A raw 26-track tape honoring self-belief, resiliency, and good luck. Towards the end of 2025, Florida superstar Kodak Black released an album titled Just Getting Started. After over a decade in the game (his first full-length dropped back in 2013), this indeed signaled a fresh start. He continued this reinvention with 2026’s Kodak the Blessing, a raw 26-track surprise tape that arrived with little fanfare or pre-release promotion from Kodak. He lets the music tell the story, and the one he’s crafting here is one of resilience, self-belief, and gratitude. Opening track “Blessing” serves as a guiding light of sorts, with Yak reflecting on just how much luck went into his status as one of the biggest names in rap. Sure, he’s got tons of talent, but he’s also fortunate: “Thanking you, God, not just for the chicken, but also for this pot/What make me so different from these other jits that’s on the block?” He reflects on the danger that lurks around every corner, like on the emotional and powerful piano-led “Prayers Call.” “Some of them guys the devil and they be lying when they tell you/That they praying for you, really pray you get nine years or better,” he raps, defiant in his desire to continue beating the odds.
