Confirmation!

Confirmation!

Don’t let the exclamation point in the title fool you: Logic1000’s second album, Confirmation!, Is a moody study of contrasts, as Samantha Poulter joins forces with partner Thomas McAlister for a record that detours from the clubbier fare of her prior releases. “The Way I Change” dives headlong into chillout’s icy sense of cool, while Canadian singer-songwriter FAUZIA lends her steady pipes to the splashy, neon-lit ’80s pop of “2Love.” Logic1000’s 2024 debut LP, Mother, was directly inspired by Poulter’s new parenthood, and Confirmation! similarly doesn’t shy away from thematic bent, drawing direct inspiration from her Catholic upbringing and the titular sacrament itself, lending cuts like “The Only One”—featuring a typically powerful vocal from Christine and the Queens’ Rahim Redcar—a specifically spiritual sense of uplift.
