Over the past decade, Punjabi rapper-composer-producer Wazir Patar has focused on creating lauded grime, boom-bap and classic hip-hop. His 2026 EP Dīda-zeb, however, heads into pastures new. On opener “Ek Ohda Sangna”, a cheery Patar croons over a folky harmonium and minimal beats. A doleful sarangi is sampled over scratchy beats on “Khãmakha”—which explores separation and longing, and features singer Banso—while slinky beats add mystique to the title track duet with Kiran Sandhu. There’s even a jazz turn on “Khoob-su-rat”, proving that Patar can turn his hand to any style.
