WHACK'S MUSEUM

WHACK'S MUSEUM

Twelve short tracks packed with ideas, attitude, and wordplay. With the benefit of hindsight, it’s obvious that Tierra Whack’s 2018 debut Whack World was one of the more quietly influential moments in modern rap, a playful, hyper-personal set of surrealistic vignettes you could microdose like memes or voice notes, bridging the gap between classic artists like Outkast and contemporaries like Doechii and Little Simz. With 12 tracks averaging just over two minutes each, WHACK’S MUSEUM is, above all, a fun listen, packed with ideas, attitude, and wordplay that feels clever but never overworked, joyous and goofy in some places (“SIREN”), swaggering in others (“WAX PAPER”), but mostly just bittersweet with enough of a sense of humor to make it all okay—beautiful, even (“QUEENS CROWN,” “TWO FIFTEEN”).
