The shadowy London-based electronic duo Two Shell has built a reputation as merry pranksters, and though their antics may be inseparable from the music, it’s also never made the tunes feel any less sincere. Following their previous album, 2025’s IIcons, the group announced Infinite Now with a winking teaser in the mode of a Now That’s What I Call Music! compilation. “Are you ready to go infinite?” repeats a glitching robot on the intro to “The Nightmare,” a vaguely ominous jock jam for the AI era. Elsewhere, ’90s French touch meets Eurodance meets hyperpop in a dazzling, retrofuturistic hall of mirrors; the perfectly cheesy “Thing About You” is bum-rushed by sinister automatons, while “Technology” evokes an irony-poisoned sequel to Daft Punk’s Human After All. “No past/No future/Only this moment/The future is now!” says a robotic voice on the outro to “Clouds,” with a manic optimism that feels poised to unravel at any moment.
