When Blood Incantation participated in All Gates Open, the documentary about the making of their 2024 album Absolute Elsewhere, the Denver-based quartet recorded a series of synth improvisations and exploratory sessions that became the score for the film. In that sense, this soundtrack is the genesis of the material that became the acclaimed album they later recorded at Hansa Studios in Berlin. Composed in 2021, these four tracks offer a highly introspective foil to the band’s patented psychedelic death metal and provide the “yang energy,” as guitarist/vocalist Paul Riedl calls it, to their 2022 ambient EP Timewave Zero. Originally only available as part of the deluxe art book edition of Absolute Elsewhere, the soundtrack is now a standalone release.
