TANZNEID is a combination of the German words for “dance” (tanz) and “envy” (neid), which nicely sums up the tongue-in-cheek essence of these Teutonic fusionists. In combining ultra-modern metalcore, bass-dropping EDM, and high-gloss pop on “Elevator Operator,” “Revery,” and the earworm title track, Electric Callboy occupy the dance floor and the mosh pit simultaneously. Guest shots from The Offspring (“Let the Good Times Roll”) and BABYMETAL (“RATATATA”) provide sunny optimism and bouncy beats while the nu-metal-inflected “Hypercharged” is billed as a collaboration with the popular mobile game Brawl Stars.
