A stylistically varied debut album that bridges jazz and folk. Sari Jordan’s debut album is as stylistically varied as the New Orleans-via-New Jersey artist’s musical journey thus far. After arriving in the city with academic designs in environmental study and political science, Jordan fell in quickly with New Orleans’ rich musical tradition, playing myriad jazz gigs while making a name as a solo artist. PERFECT BE THE ENEMY follows up 2023’s Sing to the Moon EP and finds Jordan expanding their own sound bridging jazz and folk. The skittering percussion and ecstatic crescendo of “ROARING TWENTIES” are reminiscent of British polymath and stated influence Lianne La Havas, while “LION SONG” has a galloping gait that sits quite nicely alongside the work of fellow troubadour and sometime New Orleans resident Hurray for the Riff Raff.
