i sure am getting sick of this bowling alley - EP

“It’s a real nice feeling!” Mclusky’s Andy Falkous exclaims on “i know computer,” the opening track of this mini-LP—and it’s a funny thing to say in the middle of the song that feels like it’s prodding you into a churning mosh pit with a bruising bass groove and a guitar riff that jabs like a bayonet. But after releasing their first album in over two decades with 2025’s the world is still here and so are we, the notorious noise-punk cranks are clearly enjoying their sustained second wind. And with i sure am getting sick of this bowling alley, Mclusky delivers a six-pack of tracks that strike a singular balance of intensity and absurdity: “as a dad” rides a sleazy slide-guitar lick and curb-stomping backbeat into an inane yet undeniably catchy chorus (“in the piranha was another piranha!”); “spock culture” occupies the Venn-diagram overlap between The Jesus Lizard fans and Trekkies. The record does close with a surprisingly gentle lo-fi serenade, though Falkous is very much aware of this uncharacteristic behavior—as he confesses on the song’s chorus/title, “that was my brain on elves.”
