Released on the 10th anniversary of TAEYEON’s solo debut, Panorama : The Best of TAEYEON is a document of one of K-pop’s most recognizable voices. As the leader of SM Entertainment’s Girls’ Generation (also known as SNSD), TAEYEON’s crystal-clear, emotive vocals helped define second-generation K-pop on hits like “Into the New World,” “Gee,” and “The Boys.” While Girls’ Generation is known for their bubblegum pop and electropop sound, TAEYEON has embraced power-pop ballads as a soloist. Her 2015 solo debut, a wistful empowerment anthem called “I,” is reimagined for Panorama, alongside 22 other tracks that define the 36-year-old’s story so far. TAEYEON’s 2017 ballad “Time Lapse” also gets a Kim Jong Wan-led remix on the “best of” collection, but it’s “Panorama” that’s totally new for the album. The cathartic pop-rock opener is simultaneously a comforting message to TAEYEON’s past self and a hopeful step towards the next decade.
