YO SOY LA FAMA, VOL. 2

YO SOY LA FAMA, VOL. 2

Both in his influential mid-2000s duo with Dálmata as well as his subsequent and prodigious solo career, Puerto Rican reggaetonero Ñejo played no small part in the growth and development of the genre and its offshoots. Though he stayed active on the singles front in the 2020s, YO SOY LA FAMA, VOL. 2 marks a rare full-length effort from the seasoned artist and an official sequel to his respected 2014 album. Perpetuating his penchant for collaboration, the project features an abundance of guests, from fellow genre veterans to those who’ve emerged in his wake. Representing the former category are Ñengo Flow and Jowell & Randy, who aid in the updated throwbacks of “Dentro De La Disco” and “Condená,” respectively. Elsewhere, he partners with contemporary Colombian star Feid for the explicit yet sleek single “Princesa,” bridging their two generations with seeming ease. Though reggaetón remains the primary mode here, Ñejo formally fortifies his hip-hop bona fides on cuts like “Hace Cuanto” and “Chevere Ser Grande.”
