Dedicated to Cadalee Biarritz

Big K.R.I.T. is a son and student of the South. His albums are deeply rooted in sounds from Tennessee, Georgia, Louisiana, and his home state, Mississippi. On his 2025 album Dedicated to Cadalee Biarritz, he uses one of his favorite rides from childhood, the Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz, to wax poetic on where he’s been, where he’s at, and where he’s going. Regardless of topic, though, K.R.I.T. brings his signature Southern swagger to each verse, like on “Gotta Do It,” where he spits over a drum-heavy throwback beat and implores people to avoid faking the funk at all costs. These are philosophies he learned from groups he mentions on the track, like UGK and 8Ball and MJG. On Dedicated to Cadalee Biarritz, Big K.R.I.T. manages to be in conversation with these luminaries while still asserting his own viewpoint, one that’s made him a modern king of the South.
