ODYSSEY

ODYSSEY

ODYSSEY, ILLENIUM’s sixth studio album, arrives nearly a decade after his 2016 debut, Ashes. Over the years, the Denver DJ/producer helped define the melodic bass sound that rose to prominence in the mid- to late 2010s, pairing emotional vocals and dreamy soundscapes with big drums and festival-sized drops. As his audience grew, so did his palette, as he incorporated youth influences of metalcore, pop punk, and alternative styles into his work—especially on 2021’s Fallen Embers and 2023’s self-titled album—and began blurring the lines between EDM, rock, and pop songwriting. ODYSSEY continues that evolution on its biggest canvas yet. Joined by an expansive roster of collaborators (Ryan Tedder, Zeds Dead, Bastille, and Kid Cudi among them), ILLENIUM journeys through 19 tracks of explosive main-stage anthems, moody melodic house, growling rock fusion, glowing drum ’n’ bass, and his classic, cathartic melodic bass. Created with his new, immersive live show in mind—a task he described as “making a movie for an album”—they’re optimized for emotional and cinematic impact. Soar with HAYLA’s powerhouse vocals on maximal bass ballad “In My Arms” and feel the wrath of Ellie Goulding scorned over dark, searing synths on “Don’t Want Your Love.” Furiously headbang to Bring Me The Horizon’s blistering metal-rave on “Slave to the Rithm” and embrace the present moment with WYLDE on the serene, euphoric closer “Ur Alive.”
