When you’ve had the kind of career that Alejandro Sanz has had, one full of accolades and other such markers of unmitigated success, where to go next can prove a daunting question. An artist of his caliber is often expected to age unambitiously into their presumed legacy period, at least from fans who’ve connected with their expansive body of work through the decades. Thankfully, Sanz shows no signs of slowing down or settling into a so-called “greatest hits” mindset. On ¿Y ahora qué +?, which asks this existential question more directly than most, he bridges his 2019 and 2021 efforts, #ELDISCO and the semi-eponymous Sanz, with an expanded volume of his 2025 EP of new material that remains very much his own. Though he outperforms many of his peers on solo cuts like the vibrant “Las guapas,” collaboration across generations proves a core strength here. Notably, he brings the contemporary likes of Carín León and Manuel Turizo into his world rather than the other way around, as shown on “Mil motivos” and “Cómo sería.” Still, his Shakira reunion on “Bésame” should keep even his most stubborn listeners locked in.
