Live at the Dine Alone Store

Throughout their career, Canadian power trio The Dirty Nil have approached every gig with the hit-the-bleachers gusto of an arena-rock concert and the white-knuckled intensity of a basement DIY-dive corker. This live set—recorded at their label’s in-house vinyl shop—captures the band in a particularly frenzied state, as they perform for a small but spirited group of friends and family to celebrate the July 2025 release of their fifth album, The Lash, which is well-represented with rough ’n’ rowdy takes on the power-pop ripper “Do You Want Me?” and the alternately swaggering and self-deprecating “Rock N Roll Band.” But the career-spanning set list also doubles as a de facto greatest-hits collection, presenting The Dirty Nil as the rare band that can pull off cheeky bubblegrunge anthems (“Zombie Eyed”), thrash/emo hybrids (“Doom Boy”), and raw-nerved indie-rock balladry (“This Is Me Warning Ya”) with equal aplomb.
