Seemingly everything changed for Payroll Giovanni between the release of his joyous and rambunctious 2024 album Hustle Muzik and its tense, pressure-packed follow-up, 2025’s If Not Me Then Who. The Detroit-born rapper sets the scene during the first moments of the opening title track, and as he explains it, he needs to be everywhere at once. He makes problems disappear—they go poof like he’s a magician. His mom’s telling him he doesn’t need to be a third-generation dealer, he’s got the chance to bust his family out of this vicious cycle. It’s a lot to bear. And yet, he perseveres. “Tunnel Vision“ finds him showcasing his one-track mind, while “Get Money & Mind My Business” follows its title’s blueprint to perfection. Life can be simple when you can compartmentalize the problems and stay out of trouble, it turns out. He raps matter-of-factly on “Get Money”: “I just stay up out the mix and stack my hundrеds up.”
