“We love it when the weather gets warm,” The Knocks’ Ben “B-Roc” Ruttner tells Apple Music. “People tend to be happier and more excited to dance and just be outside, living their best lives.” The New York City electronic music duo released their latest album Revelation earlier this year, and this summer they’re on tour bringing the dance vibes to outdoor venues. For their Summertime Sounds mix, the duo is reviving the synth-pop sounds of the ’80s. “We have been heavily inspired by the 1980s lately, so we wanted to take you on a journey into that era,” says James “JPatt” Patterson. “Not your normal ’80s hits, though. We tend to gravitate towards the weirder, lesser-known ’80s boogie/proto-house stuff. It’s forever our favorite era of pop and electronic music.”
