Killed By Deaf: A Punk Tribute to Motörhead

It’s no secret that punk has always embraced Motörhead; as the old adage goes, they were the only band the punks and metalheads could agree on back in the day. Led by the late vocalist/bassist Lemmy Kilmister, the UK trio’s cranked-up, no-nonsense, middle-finger approach appealed to all the safety-pinned, mohawked, speed-gobbling kids pogoing to the Ramones, Sex Pistols, and The Damned at the dawn of the punk era. The evidence is right here on Killed By Deaf, which boasts Motörhead covers from old-school punk warhorses FEAR, G.B.H., and Anti-Nowhere League alongside ’90s stars Rancid, Pennywise, and Lagwagon—plus more recent bands The Bronx, Wisdom In Chains, and Slaughterhouse. As a fitting bonus, the comp concludes with a previously unreleased version of Lemmy joining The Damned for a rousing rendition of their 1977 classic “Neat Neat Neat.”
