Among the wave of Indian independent singer-songwriters that surged in early 2020, Tanmaya Bhatnagar stood out with her stark vulnerability on debut single “Kya Tum Naraaz Ho? (Raw)”. On almost everything she’s released since, she sounds like she’s baring her soul. This is the case too with the tunes on her first Hindi EP—be it the slow-burning title cut or pre-release singles “Noor” and “Supriya”, which are deeply emotional dedications to her daughter and mum respectively. The pop-leaning, romantic “Kinaare”—on which you can pretty much hear her smile—shows a refreshing new side.
