Within K CAMP’s vast discography, the one consistent has been his Kiss series, a sprawling enterprise that finds the Wisconsin-born rapper trading in his rap-heavy bars for something more romantic, sultry, and influenced by the R&B greats of the ’90s and early 2000s. Kiss 6 arrives after a five-year hiatus, with the fifth edition having dropped back in 2020. Despite the gap in time, K CAMP picks up right where he left off, cooking up an album more for the bedroom than the club. While on other records, K CAMP chronicles his unrelenting grind and the riches he’s earned thanks to this work ethic, here he celebrates the more intimate moments of his life. On opener “Hero,” he employs a half-rapped flow and seduces his partner over sparse finger-snaps and the occasional string flourishes. Like all his projects, though, K CAMP is at his best when he dives into details most other artists skip over. On that aforementioned opener, he glows when recalling how his lady loves the way he looks in a suit. Elsewhere, on “Body Calling,” he makes clear just how much he’s falling in love, letting his girl know that he wants her all the time—even on the weekends.
