“This month’s mix heads into deep exploration mode, diving into breaks, acid, and electro—and, in the process of making it, I discovered some producers I hadn’t come across before that I think you will love,” John Digweed tells Apple Music, introducing his June 2025 mix. “It opens with Sandwell District’s ‘Citrinitas Acid.’ From there, the mix starts to twist and turn in all kinds of directions.” And the roads Digweed takes are interesting ones, with a trip into synth-fueled breakbeat from Brazil, Kraftwerk-inspired melodies, and experimental bass-heavy sounds. “One name that really stood out for me was Sominaryst. I’ve included two of his tracks—first, ‘Stanley Psybrick,’ which has this hypnotic, trippy energy that pulls you right in. Later in the mix, you’ll hear the title track from his album Qualia. It’s a nine-track deep dive into bass-heavy, experimental sounds,” he says. “Another standout in the mix was ‘Hourglass’ by BRVNOV—an artist from Brazil who I’ll definitely be listening to more of. There’s also ‘Unity’ by VOLTAIRE, from Laurent Garnier’s Cod3 QR label—Kraftwerk-inspired but with a warm, modern, melodic feel. And to close the mix, ‘Taken’ by fire_sign, reworked by USRNM—bringing everything down to a beautifully trippy crawl with a spine-chilling vocal.” As ever, Digweed has enjoyed spreading the love with his current favorite tracks. “This mix series is really allowing me to share the more experimental electronic music I love with you,” he says. “I’m discovering new artists and hearing the quality of what producers are making now is very exciting. Until next time…”
