“I just got back from an incredible month of touring South America and, as always, returned full of inspiration for all the incredible producers and DJs I got to meet along the way,” John Digweed tells Apple Music, getting us up to speed on the experiences that have shaped this atmospheric February 2025 installment of the veteran DJ’s mix series for Apple Music. “There’s definitely a theme across this month’s Compiled & Mixed, with many of the producers and tracks hitting some pretty serious landmarks but, let’s be clear, this is no reflective classics mix,” says Digweed. “There’s an Amirali remix of the iconic ‘Café Del Mar’ by Energy 52, making it feel so fresh and current without losing any of the emotion from the original (released 30 years ago!). I’ve also featured three tracks from Focus FL—he was part of the early ’90s rave/breaks scene in Florida, which was a massive part of my early career. He’s got a new EP out now which merges that classic sound with the more current breaks style I’ve been championing here on these mixes. The mix finishes with Bedrock’s classic ‘Heaven Scent’—and a brand-new remix from Codeswitch to celebrate its 25th anniversary—once again bringing this classic bang up to date.”
