No matter what has changed for Rich Forever—the trio of Jay Critch, Rich The Kid, and Famous Dex—in the five years since 2019’s Rich Forever 4, a few things have remained constant. The trio is still, presumably, forever wealthy, and their chemistry is as sharp as ever. It’s this seemingly telepathic camaraderie that propels Rich Forever 5. Critch and Kid both hail from New York, and Dex comes from Chicago, but the trio’s style together transcends any regional differences. From the get-go, these three rappers trade bars and ad-lib across increasingly outrageous flexes about riches, automobiles, and even food (see: “Lobster”). The trio showcase plenty of serious moments, too. On “Never Forget,” they pay homage to their humble beginnings. Critch kicks things off, recalling the first day he was broke versus the day he got cheese. Rich looks back on when he used to live with his grandma, while Dex remembers freezing in his house, unable to afford heat. Despite the grandiose and playful brags that populate much of Rich Forever 5, the trio never forget the humble beginnings that make these victories all the sweeter.
