Recorded at Joe Perry’s ranch with help from the band’s original producer, Jack Douglas, Honkin’ on Bobo is the sound of Aerosmith having a very, very good time. That’s no surprise given the blues and R&B classics (plus one original) that serve as their repertoire. While there isn’t a dud in the batch, their rendition of Willie Dixon’s “I’m Ready” rates as a cut above for eliciting both some mean slide guitar by Joe Perry and an especially unbridled display of Steven Tyler’s harmonica prowess.
